synopsis

A veil of mystery...

...and a ray of hope?

Rei Ayanami isn't exactly the warm and friendly type, especially after having been seriously injured during her first disastrous attempt to synchronize with her Eva. However, after having been solely responsible for the Earth's defense since his arrival in Tokyo 3, Evangelion pilot Shinji Ikari ought to be grateful to have Rei coming back on duty in the fight against the Angels. Instead, he finds himself curiously ambivalent about his mysterious co-worker, especially when it becomse apparent that Rei's emotional bond with Shinji's father is much stronger than Gendo's relationship with his own son. However, personal differences are swept aside when a new Angel attacks, severely injuring Shinji! As Misato ponders the necessity of using a new experimental weapon which will drain every drop of power from Japan, Rei finally synchronizes with her Eva to join a wounded Shinji against the most powerful Angel yet!
