Shoujo Kakumei Utena

(Revolutionary Girl Utena)

synopsis

Tenjou Utena, the athletic and beautiful sophmore of Ohtori Academy, is waiting... waiting for a prince mounted on a white steed, who comforted her when she lost both her parents. Her only link to this memory is a rose signet ring which he gave her.

Strangely enough, the student council executive members of Ohtori Academy also wear the same ring, and each seems driven by the rules of duelling... a duel for the hand of the Rose Bride, the young woman named Himemiya Anthy. For whomever is champion of the duel wins the hand of Anthy, and will utimately receive the power to bring the Revolution to the world.

This 39-part TV series was created by the director of the popular hit series, Bishoujo Sailor Moon. A theatrical movie is slated for release in 1999.
