[ rated pg ] Gunbuster

A Parent's Guide to Anime
Rated: PG
Parental Guidance Advised

Review by Don Kreipke:

[ 26kb ]

A six episode (0.5 hours each) grand style sci-fi mecha OVA. The antagonists are mechanical technology Terrans versus bio-technology strange aliens that are kind of a cross between sea anemones and crustaceans. The OVA has several humorous intermissions. Episode 2 has full figure female nudity in a bath sequence. The rest of the episodes have occasional brief glimpses of bare female chests. Combat style nongraphic violence. A real downer, though. One of the most depressing animes around.

Review by Michael Paddon:

In my opinion, Gunbuster has one of the most upbeat endings to any film, live action or animated, that I've ever seen. It is a classic story of determination, faith and sacrifice winning through impossible odds.
