I'm a university student living in Vancouver, Canada. I'm a white female, which I guess is kind of rare for an anime fan. I learned about anime from a friend of my boyfriend who has a collection of videos. I've also learned more about it from the web and from the SFU and UBC anime clubs in Vancouver.
