[ plot summary ]

The Captain's instructor at the academy, superintendent Arizuka Enma, pays Bokuto precinct a visit. Only this is _Lord_ Enma, the "Demonic check-man", feared far and wide for his habit of exiling officers who aren't in line to deserted islands...for the rest of their lives...! So Yoriko says anyhow. As it turns out though, Yoriko isn't exaggerating for once and with Aoi, our cross-dressing transfer and Natsumi, who brought a hangover to work today, Bokuto precinct could become very vacant in the near future...

[ capsule review ]

I found this to be a highly amusing episode. Sure, Bokuto precinct isn't the cleanest one in Japan, nor does it have the best reputation (deemed the "World Safari" among other things in the last episode) but if they clean up the visible mess and hide away the two offending officers you think they could survive the inspection intact, right? Well, not only is Enma a pro at what he does but Aoi and Natsumi are found out in the absolute worst possible ways. Natsumi's discovery in particular had me laughing out loud. Even better, the Captain is caught in traffic and in place of his normally calm exterior is a very desperate man. It's quite a sight. The sub-plot of this episode involves a girl, too much alcohol, and a high bridge. (With Enma observing!) Can Miyuki and Natsumi save the day? (Can birds fly?) Aside from the 1 in 1,000,000,000 chance miraculous save, I'd have to say Ken and Miyuki's relationship takes a bigger step forward in the five minute speech Ken gives than the entire OAV series. A nice change of pace for those who want to see more than just the usual spudly behavior out of the reluctant couple. - DV
