Move aside, Indiana Jones; put down that PPK, Bond; there's a new hero in town with enough panache and style to make the Three Musketeers look positively shabby in comparison. Hayao Miyazaki takes the character of Lupin III and brings him alive in a non-stop action fest of derring-do, madness, and mayhem! If you're not on your feet cheering for the thief-with-a-heart-of-gold by the end of this flick, well, you're just some kind of party pooper, aren't you?

Castle of Cagliostro

Here's definitive proof that there's no such thing as cultural boundaries to good old fashioned comedy-adventures. Great modern take on the classic 'knight in shining armour rescues beautiful princess' storyline, this one plays very much like Rob Reiner's The Princess Bride -- only Castle is seven years older, and the setting is a tad more modern... The often-maligned Carl Macek and Streamline Pictures does such an incredible job of dubbing, that I think I like the English version even better than the original. Did I forget to mention that this is another Miyazaki production?
