Why is there an LED display of a figure 8 on the "Lucky 8" Coke machine?
answer:
These style drink machines while prevalent in Japan didn't seem to catch on in North America. Basically, when you buy a drink from the machine, depending on when you make your selection, you could win a free drink. The lights go through their pattern and where they end will determine if you win or not. If you keep buying from the same machine, you can usually figure out the pattern.
