Playing around with the format of the main page again, in order to provide more useful information to first-time visitors. Also added several new entries to the Anime Encyclopædia.

A very sad day in the entertainment industry. Gene Siskel, entertainment critic for the Chicago Tribune and foil to the Chicago Sun-Time's Roger Ebert (of the 'Siskel and Ebert' team) has died. The pair were the prototype of the film critic review teams which now populates the industry. His quiet rapport with Roger Ebert's over-powering and self-assured mannerisms made for a highly successful team which becames a huge hit on public television back in 1982. Siskel was 53.

    Happy Year of the Rabbit!

It's been two years since the Café opened up shop, and we're still here. In fact, this second anniversary marks another first -- yours truly is the guest writer for the current installment of the Anime Web Turnpike's Guest's Picks. Thanks to Nikkou at the 'Pike for asking us!

We also have two new reviews up for The Hakkenden. Stay tuned!

The Animé Café Anime Giveaway Contest is back! We're running the contest for February / March as we speak...

Speaking of contests, we've finally posted the results of the Dai-Anime Scavenger Hunt. Congratulations to all the winners!

The previously reported downtime has come and gone, with a few hiccups... but nothing permanent.

We've also learned that there's a site out there that has literally been lifting reviews from other review sites. Remember, a lot of fan-sites rely on the hard work and efforts of people willing to spend the time to bring useful information to the Internet. If you spot a site out there leeching material from our (or other) sites, please let us know!

THE ANIME CAFE WILL BE TEMPORARILY DOWN THE MORNING OF JANUARY 28, 1999.

Staring at 06:00 AM Mountain Standard Time, our ISP (Nucleus Information Systems) will be upgrading their trunk lines. We apologise for any inconvenience this might cause.

    O Sashiburi!

Sorry for the lack of updates, but we've been a tad busy... In addition to the regular problems associated with the Christmas and New Year's season, we also had to deal with the Dai-Anime Scavenger Hunt prizes... but enough chit-chat about old stuff.

A new review is now up for Grappler Baki, Sol Bianca as well as several additions to the encyclopædia. The Anime Giveaway Contest is off-line until February or possibly March, depending on how quickly our next batch of prizes appear.

P.S. If you're Japanese, Happy Year of the Rabbit! Those of you who follow the more traditional lunar calendar will have to wait 'till February. Ja matta ne!

We also maintain a list of titles that we have, but haven't actually had a chance to write the reviews.
